This is envisaged as a system for generating and spreading knowledge on habitat trends, at the service of companies in the Valencia Region. The project has a multisectoral (ceramics, furniture, and home textiles) and multidisciplinary character, for which different sectors related to the habitat are studied from various viewpoints. Thus, it analyses the aesthetic streams that drive the habitat trends, the sociocultural currents influencing these, and their degree of assimilation by today’s consumers. In the case of ceramics, the work is performed by experts in ITC’s Area for Design and Architecture.

In 2007, the Habitat Trends 2008–2009 notebook was published, based on ongoing analysis and study of the aesthetic, sociocultural, and consumption factors that drive the generation of Habitat Trends, duly identified and characterised by the Habitat Trends Observatory.

The Habitat Trends Observatory comprises, in addition to ITC, the Textile Technology Institute (Aitex), and the Technology Institute for Wood, Furniture, Packing and Related Industries (Aidima), with the support of IMPIVA.
