Zero Hunger

Our work at the Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC) trabajamos en distintas iniciativas que impactan en el ODS 2: Hambre CeroWe participate in a number of initiatives that have an impact on SDG 2: Zero Hunger, promoting sustainability in food production, reducing waste and optimizing resources through technological innovation.

Innovation for sustainability in food production

Aplicamos nuestro conocimiento en economía circular y optimización de materiales para desarrollar soluciones que pueden contribuir a la seguridad alimentaria y a la reducción del impacto ambiental en la cadena de producción.
We bring our knowledge of the circular economy and materials optimization to create solutions that can contribute to food safety and reduce the environmental impact of the production chain. By research into sustainable materials and processes, we collaborate with industrial sectors that can apply these advances to packaging, food preservation and more efficient production systems.

Reducing the waste of resources

Trabajamos en proyectos europeos como LIFE REWAINCER y Reconmatic, que tienen un fuerte componente de optimización del uso del agua y reducción del desperdicio de recursos.
We work on European projects such as LIFE REWAINCER and Reconmatic, which have a strong component of optimizing water use and reducing waste of resources. Although our main focus is the ceramics and construction sectors, these solutions are applicable to other sectors, such as the agri-food industry, where efficient water and waste management is key to guaranteeing sustainable and accessible production.

Social responsibility and support for vulnerable communities

We plan monthly actions in line with the SDGs,including initiatives that can contribute to the fight against hunger, such as collaborating with social organizations or promoting responsible production and consumption models. 
Our commitment to SROI (Social Return on Investment)   and corporate responsibility leads us to seek ways to apply our knowledge of technology to generate a positive impact on society.   

Transfer of knowledge and training

Facilitamos el acceso a la innovación y la tecnología a empresas y profesionales, ayudando a optimizar procesos que pueden mejorar la producción y reducir costos en sectores clave para la seguridad alimentaria.
Promovemos la formación en sostenibilidad y optimización de recursosWe facilitate access to innovation and technology for both companies and professionals, optimizing processes that can improve production and reduce costs in key sectors for food security. We promote training in sustainability and resource optimization, key for more companies and professionals to adopt solutions that contribute to a more efficient and equitable food system.

We at the ITC continue to explore new opportunities for technology and innovation to contribute to a hunger-free world.
