Toward sustainable development

ITCReto2030

As a committed Technology Center, we have the obligation to establish and standardize the steps to measure and improve our contribution to sustainable development.

We have launched the ITCReto2030 project to align our present and future activities with ESG (environmental, social and governance) criteria and contribute positively through our activities.

Where do we stand on the SDGs?

Most of our projects and actions are linked to and have a direct impact on the SDGs.

We are a socially responsible company

We are working on strengthening our governance model through significant progress in the development of internal regulations in order to improve transparency and good corporate governance practices.

Our Technology Center has been officially recognized by the GVA as a Valencian Socially Responsible Organization, which entails backing up this recognition with verified data validated by external auditing companies.

The LIFE EGGSHELLENCE project, which we coordinate, funded by the European Union's LIFE 2014-2020 Environment and Climate Action Program (REF.: LIFE19 ENV/ES/000121), has won the Go!ODS award in the SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure category.

The United Nations Global Compact Spain and the Rafael del Pino Foundation, through the Go!SDG initiative, aim to recognize innovative Spanish projects that make a major contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Learn how our actions have a positive impact on the environment and our community.

As part of our commitment to transparency, we apply the Social Return on Investment (SROI) framework, an internationally recognized method that allows us to understand, measure and evaluate the social, economic and environmental results of our actions. SROI (Social Return of Investment – Retorno Social de la Inversión), un marco reconocido internacionalmente que nos permite entender, medir y valorar los resultados sociales, económicos y ambientales de nuestras acciones.

Based on quantitative and qualitative techniques, we assess the impact of our initiatives in different areas, considering both positive aspects and improvements achieved.

Commitment to the Environment

We work every day on the development of techniques, tools and processes that innovate, improve and optimize activity in the industrial sector. Our activity has a direct impact on the society in which we operate and we are not oblivious to the climate emergency and water stress we are facing.

Efficiency and
responsible consumption

We are committed to the transition to more efficient and environmentally friendly production systems and systems for the provision of goods and services.

We prioritize the purchase of zero-emission vehicles within the Safe and Sustainable Mobility Plan, gradually converting more of the fleet to hybrid vehicles, thus acting on the direct reduction of CO2.

Circular Economy, Waste Prevention and Management
y Gestión de Residuos

We are committed to a gradual shift from linear production (Produce-Use-Discard) to circular production (Produce-Use-Return), which will result in a reduction in the amount of raw materials used.

In 2022 we started using renewable energy sources at the Institute's sites. This involved installing photovoltaic panels at the Almassora headquarters, which supply energy, reducing the consumption of non-renewable purchased energy and consolidating the use of 100% renewable energy.

Sustainable use of resources

We are working on incorporating renewable energy resources, which will enable us to progress along the road to climate neutrality.

In 2022 we installed our first photovoltaic system. This system of photovoltaic panels supplies electricity to our headquarters in Almassora (Castellón) and has contributed to the reduction of the CO2 emissions we produce annually since March. January 2023 saw a change in our electricity supplier, with all our power now coming from 100% renewable sources, thus consolidating our commitment to a transition to renewable energy.2 que emitimos anualmente. Desde enero de 2023 se ha modificado la comercializadora de energía eléctrica siendo ahora de procedencia 100% renovable, afianzando así nuestro compromiso con la transición energética.

Climate emergency

We are committed to accurately measuring our carbon footprint in order to clearly understand our impact on the environment.

Furthermore, with this in mind, we promote the development of projects and lines of research whose main objective is production in sustainable terms, contributing to and promoting the adoption of more appropriate practices.

The ITC headquarters in Castellón is part of the Action Plan for Sustainability and Against Climate Change developed by the Universitat Jaume I Plan de acciones por la sostenibilidad y contra el cambio climático desarrollado por la Universitat Jaume I.
