ITC will improve technical and environmental aspects of inkjet technology through the Shade project

Castellón, 3 August 2018: The Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC) is conducting the project Shade: Influence of process variables on the resulting shades in inkjet-decorated tiles.

Shade, which runs until the end of 2019, is funded by the Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness (IVACE) through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and seeks to address two different types of problems.

On the one hand, knowledge needs to be generated for greater insight into the variables that, to a greater or lesser degree, influence the appearance of shades in tiles decorated using inkjet technology or digital printing, to enable corrective actions to be proposed or a protocol to be established for minimising the time required to put different tile models into production.

On the other hand, the Shade project is going to study the fine-tuning of a pilot system for ascertaining the amounts of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted during the tile firing stage.
